The New Richard Mille RM 07-01 Intergalactic Watches
Richard Mille is always up there when we talk about ultra-exclusive luxury watch brands. Describing Richard Mille to someone who is not a watch enthusiast is fairly simple. Richard Mille is the F1 car equivalent of a luxury timepiece. Compared to other cars, an F1 car is manufactured with the state-of-the-art technology and from advanced materials. Similarly, Richard Mille watches are also made from avant-garde materials and are of futuristic designs. Keeping that in mind, the new Richard Mille RM 07-01 Intergalactic watches combine the two signature approaches of the Swiss brand, high-tech materials, and futuristic designs. The RM 07-01 Intergalactic watches, with gems set in a unique style that emphasizes the prongs of the gem setting themselves, show the glittering stars set among the vast darkness of our galaxy.
THE WATCHES
Richard Mille has released four Intergalactic watches under the name RM 07-01, Bright Night, Dark Night, Misty Night, and Starry Night. All of these watches feature the brand's signature tonneau case shape and are crafted from Carbon TPT with 5N red gold accents. The cases measure 31.4 mm in diameter and are 11.85 mm thick. This makes them the most compact models Richard Mille currently has to offer. To protect both the front and back sides of the three-part case, Sapphire crystals are used. Grade 5 titanium screws are used to hold together the three-part case. The cases are water resistant to 50 meters.
These Carbon TPT cases are each uniquely set with gems. These gems are protected by 5N red gold prongs that are scattered throughout the surface. It is worth noting that many of the 5N red gold prongs that are scattered over the cases of these watches are not actually for securing the diamonds but to help create the galaxy aesthetic.
Each of the different models of the RM 07-01 offer a different ratio of diamonds to prongs set on their cases. Other small differences also exist. For example, the Bright Night version has its middle caseband in red gold, while other models feature it in Carbon TPT. The Misty Night model has four red gold pillars on the sides of the case located where the grade 5 titanium screws pass through the various components. Moreover, the Starry Night model comes with its own full-link bracelet made from Carbon TPT, while the other three RM 07-01 models are completed by black rubber straps with red gold deployant buckles. With a power reserve of around 50 hours, Calibre CRMA2 is the movement used in these watches.
Differences also exist when we talk about their dials. While all four RM 07-01 Intergalactic timepieces have a similar overall case design and structure, the diamond-to-prong ratio and the way they are set are different. Each dial features a central section which is made from Carbon TPT that expresses the shape of the tonneau case and is decorated beautifully with diamonds and 5N red gold prongs. A skeletonized area surrounds this central area showing the inner workings of the movement, and also separates the central part of the dial from the minute track flange that surrounds the boundary of the display. Carbon fiber is used to make the outer flange which has hour markers filled with luminous material for readability. The dial has red gold hands which indicate hours and minutes.
Conclusion
Richard Mille has released a masterpiece with the RM 07-01 Intergalactic watches. All four of these watches are stunning, quite literally. Any one of these watches would be a great pick for the winter season.
